Instructions
- A small skillet should be used to heat all of the ingredients for the candied pecans. The ingredients should be heated over medium heat.
- After three to five minutes of cooking and stirring, the pecans should have a shiny and sticky appearance, and the majority of the liquid should have evaporated.
- Be sure to keep a close eye on the nuts, as they have the potential to catch fire if they are left out for an extended period of time.
- It is for this reason that I suggest keeping a close eye on the skillet for the full three to five minutes, stirring it on a fairly consistent basis.
- As soon as the pecans have the appearance of being lacquered, remove them from the heat immediately.
- Please take note that if you want your pecans to be sweeter, you can add between one and two tablespoons of brown sugar at this point.
- As soon as the nuts have reached the point where they are completely dry, transfer them to a plate or baking sheet in a single layer.
- This will prevent them from sticking together. It is possible to immediately transfer the nuts to a bowl if you do not mind the nuts sticking together.
- As soon as the nuts have had a few minutes to dry, they will no longer adhere to your hands or fingers.
- Consume candied pecans as a sweet snack, chop them up and add them to green salads, or sprinkle them over desserts. All of these options sound delicious.
Notes
- Pecans that have been candied can be kept in the refrigerator for up to a week if they are stored in an airtight container (like a mason lid).
