For The Gravy

1 Tbsp avocado oil
2 tablespoons unsalted butter or more avocado oil
1 cup yellow onion finely chopped
2 cloves garlic minced
8 ounces cremini mushrooms sliced
2 Tbsp gluten-free all-purpose flour or regular all-purpose flour flour**
1 1/2 cups beef stock
2 tsp dijon mustard
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

Make the Hamburger Steak:

  • Put all of the ingredients for the steaks into a large mixing bowl, and then use your hands to squish everything together until it is thoroughly combined.
  • Out of the steak mixture, shape it into five patties of beef.

  • In about three minutes, add the chopped yellow onion and continue to cook it until it starts to become more pliable.

 

  • The mushrooms and garlic should be added, and the cooking process should continue with occasional stirring until the mushrooms start to sweat and turn a light brown color, which should take about five minutes.
  • Bring the flour to a boil.

  • Black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and beef broth should be poured in. Dijon mustard should also be added. A full but controlled boil should be achieved with the gravy.
  • Take the beef patties that have been browned and place them back into the skillet in a single layer with the gravy.

 

  • Continue cooking for approximately three to four minutes. In order to ensure that the gravy is thick, carefully flip the patties and continue cooking for an additional two to three minutes.
