A flavorful and festive appetiser or side dish, Sweet Potato Rounds with Goat Cheese and Roasted Cranberries are perfect for the fall, winter and holiday seasons!




For the Roasted Cranberries

  • 1-½ cups fresh or frozen cranberries
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • ¼ cup fresh-squeezed orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • pinch sea salt
  • ¼ cup honey

Sweet Potato Rounds:

  • 2 medium sweet potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Sea salt
  • 5 ounces goat cheese
  • roasted almonds
  • Honey for drizzling

Prepare the Balsamic Roasted Cranberries:

  • Preheat the oven or oven to a temperature of 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • A small bowl should be used to combine the balsamic vinegar, orange zest, orange juice, olive oil, sea salt, and cinnamon. Whisk all of these ingredients together.


  • A small casserole dish should be used to place the cranberries, then the balsamic mixture should be poured over the cranberries and stirred to combine.
  • Cover with aluminium foil and bake for fifteen minutes, or until no longer firm. Take the foil off, add the honey, and give it a good stir.
  • Allow to stand for ten minutes, then stir once more.


  • It should be at this point that the cranberries lose their shape, the juices should become more concentrated, and the mixture should have the appearance of chutney or jam.
  • Hold back until you are ready to use it. To roast the sweet potato slices, reduce the temperature of the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.


Roast the Sweet Potato Rounds:

  • Olive oil should be used to lightly coat the sweet potato slices, and then the slices should be placed on a baking sheet.
  • Salt the food, then roast it for fifteen to eighteen minutes, until it turns golden.


  • To achieve the desired level of doneness or crispiness, carefully flip the rounds and continue roasting them for another ten to fifteen minutes.
  • Take the appetiser out of the oven and put it together afterwards.


Make the Appetizer:

  • It is important to ensure that the oven remains hot, so turn it off but leave the door closed.
  • Begin by spreading goat cheese on each sweet potato round, ranging from half a tablespoon to one tablespoon.


  • Next, place a spoonful of roasted cranberries on top of the goat cheese. Put it in the oven while it is still warm for five to ten minutes, or until it is completely heated.
  • The honey-roasted almonds and a drizzle of honey should be sprinkled on top.
