Spaghetti Pie Recipe – Step by Step Guide

This spaghetti pie is something that my family never has enough of. Imagine traditional spaghetti transformed into a baked casserole that is sure to please the whole family. This is the recipe that my mother used to make with our family on a regular basis when I was growing up. Because you can count on the entire family, regardless of their age, to enjoy it, it continues to be one of her go-to meals whenever she is bringing a dinner for the family.

Instructions

  • Prepare spaghetti noodles in accordance with the instructions provided on the package. Slightly grease a pie plate with a deep dish using cooking spray.
  • First, drain the noodles, and then place them in a large bowl. The egg should be beaten in a small bowl. The butter and the warm pasta should be added.

  • Mix thoroughly until the butter has melted. Mix everything together by gently tossing it all together after adding the parmesan cheese, basil, and a little bit of salt and pepper.
  • After the pie pan has been prepared, pour the pasta mixture into it and pat it down firmly. Cottage cheese should be spread over the top of the pasta in an even layer.

  • Spread your preferred spaghetti sauce on top, then smooth it out into an even layer in the middle. Bake for twenty minutes at a temperature of 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • The dish should be allowed to cool for five to ten minutes before being cut into wedges and served. After three to four days, you can store any leftover spaghetti pie in the refrigerator. In the microwave, reheat the food.

Notes

To incorporate meat into the sauce, you can either use my simple spaghetti sauce with meat or add ground beef that has been cooked to the marinara sauce. In place of cottage cheese, ricotta cheese can be used rather. There are two options for the baking dish: you can use a deep dish pie pan, or you can use a square casserole dish that is 8 inches by 8 inches or a similar size.

Make Ahead Instructions: After you have finished making the spaghetti pie, you should not bake it. Refrigerate the mixture for several hours, until it is ready to be baked, while it is tightly covered with plastic wrap. It is recommended that you wait to add the pasta sauce until just before you bake it if you want to prepare it more than one day in advance.

If you do not wait until the very last minute, the liquid from the sauce may pool at the bottom of the pan while it is sitting in the refrigerator for such a long time. Instructions for Freezing: Cook the noodles until they are just barely al dente (taking care not to overcook them). Gather the ingredients for the pie, wrap it in a double layer of aluminium foil, and place it in the freezer for up to three months.

Apply non-stick cooking spray to the bottom layer of the aluminium foil and spray it on completely. Before baking, allow the frozen food to defrost in the refrigerator. I like to serve the noodles with additional sauce because, after some time has passed, some of the sauce will have been absorbed by the noodles.
